Anyone use them? I saw some guys welding a stoop hand railing with this 110 volt little welding machine that was about the size of a milk carton. They used a small rod and it barely made an arc. It made some very nice welds. I do a lot of small welding jobs and I loath lugging my MIG or big stick welder up from the basement to do a small repair. I could leave this little one in my garage and it would be very handy. But most I see are imported, around $100, and claiming huge amperages. I find that suspicious as I generally use a 1/16" Easy Strike 6013 rod which only needs 20-45 amps to work great. Who would use 300 amps with a small inverter welder? Anyway, if you use one of these please respond and name the brand and if it was worth buying. I know some of them look like jokes and the Lincoln goes for $1600. There has to be some really good ones in between.

Good question, I've been debating on getting a small one for same reasons... Or maybe a dedicated tig? Really could use a good plasma cutter, looking at building some tiny trailers, hardly ever get into anything over 1/8 inch anymore and not looking to have 3 to 5k squirreled away in the corner for something not used much.

That is what I mean. I have the real welders but don't need them as much as I used to. I find myself doing small repairs that take less time to do than it takes to drag a big machine up from the basement. Something small like this would be perfect:

This is the one I was thinking about. I'm just tired of buying everything made overseas...

I like the idea of this sitting in my trailer.

I can't count the number of times we've gone hunting for someone with a welder at the track and I know at some point that someone is gonna be me.

The Century FC90 is a stout little unit for it's size and price. Made by Lincoln, sold at Home Depot.

I also have the Century FC90, works well. My Lincoln in the garage isn't portable so I bought the Century for that reason, it is very light and runs on household current.
The first job I did with it basically paid for the welder fixing a gate at work and no issue running a hundred foot extension cord.
The small nozzle allowed me to get in some tight places my Lincoln would never fit and I also welded some 5/8 rod to 3/16 tubing for reinforcement no issue there.
