i did the oil pan gasket on my elky without lifting the motor. what i did was get the mr gasket one piece gasket. it comes with these 4 plastic clips that help guide the gasket to where ya need it and holds it up with the pan. well what i did was clean the pan and area on the frame around the pan FIRST!! then i removed all the bolts and all the gasket materal while under the car. its a pain in the *ss but you can do it, then i put the gasket around the pan to get it lined up, and ya dont need to use sylicone or anything. the gasket says not to. then line up all the lil bolts first, tighten those, then put in the last 4 corner ones and yer done. it took me about 45 minutes to do it by my self. it sux and is very agravating, but its a way to do it without lifting the motor. give me a 6 pack of cold beer and a large chicago style pizza, and ill do it for you. :wax:

If you have an Olds engine, I am almost positive you can't get all the oil pan bolts out without unbolting the motor mounts from the block.
