Since I finally figured out how to post pics, thought I’d share my other NON G project. It’s a 1978 Chevy CHEVETTE. It’s back halfed and miny tubbed with a narrowed Camaro 10 bolt 373 posi. I fabbed in a built to 300 HP 4.3 Chevy V-6 and 5 speed trans. My son and I made our own headers since there was nothing that would fit. I even cut into the floor to channel 2X3 steel tube frame rails connecting front to back. I made up a fiberglass Stinger style hood and dash board upper for a bigger digital gauge pod. I even installed power windows and the radio antenna going up the passenger A pillar to get it off the fender. Since I got rid of the back seat for the battery. Imade a raised steel frame in the back and made a wooden pick up style bed in the rear. I sheet metaled up the 1/4 windows like a sedan delivery. When I made my exhaust out of 2.5 stainless. I have it exiting like the later Corvettes with 4 tips. Speaking of Corvette, I rerouted the gas filler higher on the 1/4 panel and installed a 64 Vette gas door. Turned out to be alot more work than I thought. Front brakes are a combination of late 60s Corvair rotors and 2002 Grand Am calipers. Since I had extra bumpers, I cut them up and narrowed them and shortened the bumper shocks to move the bumpers in like older cars. This project has been on hold at my sons in Denton Tx since I started my Elco 300 project. He’s the mechanic in the family, he’s going to install the new Painless wiring harness and button up the rest of the mechanical stuff. Hopefully I’ll get them done about the same time. Rear tires are 275/60 15s on 80s Camaro wheels I sanded and polished.

Wow, that is going to be something! I like the delivery van style floor in the back. Great work!

It was something I first thought of in the 70s. With 300 horses and the weight of the car being just over 2000 lbs it should scoot pretty good. Being in Pa, I put dual cats on it along with 24 inch round Magnaflow mufflers. I’ve read many times that small engines need longer mufflers to sound better.
