Ok so for the stock freaks out there who have the 83 hurst olds with the same issue, I spoke to John at deluxe speedometer and cable and all he needed was a length, and 2 days later I’m up and running again. Cable is a little more flexible which I really think was the start of the issue in the first place. the tight radius’s with the stiff outer jacket must have caused chafing. I highly recommend them. Oh and putting the bracket around the shaft of the connector made a difference. Gear adapter was rubbing and knocking on the cross member.
THANKYOU for all the info and ideas. Holding onto the info for the other future cable failures.
