So I found a SS steering wheel in a wreaking yard (9 months ago) and thought I took everything with it. Went to put it on and it seems something is missing. Service manual is no help. The canceling cam/horn wire connection on my column is the standard type, spring and wire going to the horn pad, but the connection to the horn button on the SS has to be different - no spring and wire. Also, is there something that goes between the cup with the screws and the flat plate? The plate seems to be cupped slightly and looks like the outer edge should go out but it touches the cup and steering wheel either way so the horn would blow. Seems there should be some insulator between them. Anybody have any clue?

The parts TURNA posted go into the cancel cam in place of the wire and ferrule that is used on standard wheels. Same parts as a 71-81 Camaro, Mid-80s Cavaliers, Chevettes, and others.

I saw that on Rockauto. Thought thats what is was. What about between the cup with screws and the plate. An insulator of some kind?

Finally got right order of assembly. I think the screw was catching the edge of the plate (spring) shorting it out. Now to order the contact. Thanks for the help.

Would you mind posting a pic of the order? I just picked up the same wheel and I’m going to have the same issue

Look at the second photo in the original post. The thin "washer" goes first and rests on the outer edge of the steering wheel with the center curved up (higher in the center) . Then the cup and the plastic insulators with the screws through them. When you tighten the screws make sure the washer doesn't get under the plastic. The cup should be able to push down around the edge.

I think I have it.
