Steering shaft help

Ok asking the obvious.....is my steering shaft supposed to look this way... I haven't driven the car to see how it responds I hope the pictures can help but it looks almost detached from the car but it feels solid when I try to move it if this needs to be fixed how do I do it thanks

It looks like its still attached to the column/box, although looks to have seen better days.... I would suggest switching the a jeep/astro shaft.
I have a jeep shaft if your interested, Its a simple bolt on.

Do yourself a favor and replace that shaft. They're easy enough to find in the junkyard.
