I need to do some work on the frame so I'm going to get a stick welder. I have never found these frames liking mig unless they are dipped to clean up but stick you can weld on anything just about. I'm looking at the Lincoln AC225S and wondering if any of you have any opinions on this welder. ....thanks

Can't go far wrong with a Lincoln tombstone rig. I burned miles of rod thru one of those keep farm equipment in one piece.
Rod selection will be a bigger conversation than the welder that's gonna run it;)

I went to take a look at the welder and it was the old style square and not the tombstone and it came with a $180 lincoln helmet and new set of welding gloves. The worked great and I bought everything for $250, there is so much copper in the old units that it's friggin heavy...... :)

I have one that is older than I am. Works fine still. I'd get an older unit TBH. They can be had for next to nothing. I think the old ones are tougher than the modern ones.

My mom gave dad's away when he died. No one wanted it and I already had one. Good luck. If you were close to me I'd let you have mine for a song. I never use it anymore.

The guy likes the older units as well, he said his dad bought it when he was around 12 years old. The reason he was selling it was that he needed an AC/DC and the one I bought is only an AC. The guy had a nice workshop with a lathe and milling machine. and a bunch of other tools. He's building an airboat.
