Hey every GBody I'm planning on adding a nice exhaust for my stock 307 all original 442 Dual pipes any advice suggestions do I leave cat or remove it.. I'm leaning on MagnaFlow what series part #.?, Or Flowmaster 40 series? What inlet, outLet size? Not trying to over spend or build a race car just a decent pretty Sound. I just want the mufflers not the kit.

THANK YOU. in advance

They say they don't flow as well, but I've always like the Flowmaster 40 series sound. Stuff like Magnaflow and Borla are milder. It just depends on how much sound you want and what you end up with depends on the overall combination. The neighbor across the street has Flowmasters on his 14' GMC 2500 6.0 and its a little too loud for my liking. I have Borla on my 5.3 in my 08 GMC with headers and cats and I think it is just right. Try to find some videos with stockish 307's idling with different mufflers and see if you find one you really like. Hopefully some of the members can post up some videos.

Since your car has the crossover pipe (from manifold to manifold), you could really help your situation by dualing the system out. You would need the blockoff plate for the extra port on the passenger manifold and would need a double hump crossmember, so might be more than you want to do. I would probably go with a pair of high flow catalytic converters. Modern converters don't hurt performance.

I can tell you the Hooker Aerochambers with a X pipe sound great with an Olds V8. I had them as part of a Hooker cat back and true 2.5" dual exhaust with a compact X pipe. Deep and wicked sounding with little drone and not terrible loud. As said true duals in 2.25" pipe and use the readily available block off cap.

Another vote for borla. They won't rust out like flowmaster

What you mean block the port to run them straight out?

Flowmaster 40 series sound pretty good with exhaust manifolds...kind of loud with headers. So they should sound pretty good for your application.

Get this.

These unfortunately work only with early manifolds. They changed from a 2 to 3 bolt flange and the angle on the passenger side is different. The driver's side should bolt right up. I forgot about the manifold change.

Here is the cap but headers will be easier.

This muffler.

Use these over the Flowtech which rust and many have fitment issues. Some tweaking of the pipes may be necessary to hook it all up.

The H pipe is cheaper, I have used this kit before.

Of course a dual hump cross member is still needed.
I used this system on my 88 Cutlass Supreme, runs under the stock crossmember, fits nice and uses a different catalytic converter but comes with a bolt up elimination pipe. A custom dual set up is another option.
