i don't have a pic of it but its a black rubber plug about 3/4 inch diameter.
it has 2 male spade connectors in it.one is vertical and the other is horizontal.
its kinda greasy so I don't think it goes on the top of the engine.
the car originally had a 3.8 v6 and this plug is on the pass side.
any ideas?

ac not hooked up yet but it looks like I have all of the plugs figured out for that.i don't think its part of the ac system.
I also don't think my 86 w the 305 originally had this plug.

I think joe is correct. The oil pressure switch on my Buick v6 has similar plug as described. The oil sender has two prongs, one senses the oil pressure and the other wire actually goes to my electric choke. The electric choke doesn't start heating up unless car is running. Some g body's the second wire activated the air conditioning system.

I wont be near the car again till this weekend.
the oil pressure sender is now (with the 350)by the dizzy.and has a wire hooked up to it that seems to be working.
im thinking this must be something specific to the 3.8. possibly the emmissions?
