Buyer beware. I just sold this guy a set of brand new LR knobs this past weekend that he just got delivered to his door on Tuesday, and now he's got a set of "new" knobs for sale in an ebay ad. From the looks of them, and it's hard to tell really, he's trying to pass of his old used ones as new ones? I recognize the little baggies since those were the ones wrapping the new ones I sent him. I'm not 100% sure because his pictures suck balls as far as details, but it looks to me like they're definitely not new, as the bottom side pics show the one on the left to be marred up, and the insides appear to have vertical wear marks which is common with used knobs.

The old rule applies, buyer beware. Worse yet, the guy didn't even bother to give me any feedback, like most people- they seem to forget. Of course, that goes both ways. No gettee, no givvee.

And if anyone needs a new set of knobs, lemme know. I can give you a FAR better deal on a nicer looking new set than this guy. But he does offer free shipping. :)

I had a similar experience recently. Bought a "Buick" letter logo nameplate about a week ago on eBay. The piece looked pristine online. When I received it, it had the original adhesive backing and protective tape as described, but also had some oxidated crud and cat hair on it. Still potentially usable, but definitely not the condition I expected.

For being "New" he really gave a "detailed" discription. I've given better discriptions with a simple emoji.

Be thank-full he didn't make a complaint against you with the money back guarantee send you his knobs back keep the new ones and get his $$ back.

Hmmmmm why do I say this????? Happened to me with a Malibu full gauge cluster.

Scumbag took the gauges out sent me back an empty busted cluster.

And I had to cover the return shipping cause he said it was broken.

Out the cluster money plus the return shipping

, ebay didn't give a ****

The guy is a bit of an idiot on top of being a scammer. I guess he doesn't think you have a computer and would come across his ad or recognize his scam

I have bought a bunch of stuff off of Ebay but I now go to Amazon first. I got one of their credit cards since I was a Cabelas fan for many years and I put everything on my card. When Bass Pro bought them out I said goodbye.
Like everything else I look hard at reviews and feedback. I just bought a MEC bushing for my reloader off of Ebay and it took a friggin month to get here from 5 states away. If he pushes me for feedback real hard I will give it to him.

I wouldn't go so far as saying he's a scammer. I really don't know his intention. However, his ad states the knobs are new and from what I can see, I have a very hard time believing they are. But if he's wanting to sell LR knobs, I could undercut him all day long at his prices. I guess he's looking for that one uninformed buyer that won't be able to tell.

As far as getting hosed with a POS buyer who tries to scam me by returning some junk, that's all it would take and I'll be gone from there. But- I have found that the majority of people are usually on the up and up. Bad seeds tend to weed themselves out sooner or later. It's hard to stop someone wanting to scam, but there are measures. I may go to some sort of parts verification method so that it would be ultra hard to scam. There's ways to do it. Maybe buy some tamper-proof stickers to put on my parts I sell which gets destroyed if you take it off, and other security measures that are easy and inexpensive to do.

I have learned a lesson on multiple same-parts auctions. One time I sold a "Hurst Equipped" emblem. I had two, and pictured both in the ad. I had them where you had to add so many to your cart, yaddah yaddah, if you wanted more than one. Also put in the description the price was for ONE emblem with instructions on what to do if you wanted both. Had this guy buy one, so I sent it to him. Then when it's delivered, he complains to ebay he thought he was buying two. I look at his ebay handle and he's been around a while. Not his first rodeo. So I'm thinking "How did this guy get through life in the U.S. without knowing English?" Anyway, I told him send it back unopened and in original condition, and I'll refund his money. He claimed he didn't know how, I told him if ebay wouldn't help, just send it back and I'd refund him his cost and I'd eat the shipping. Or if he wanted 2, he could pay me for another one and I'd send it out to him. He futzed around for seemingly forever, and FINALLY he didn't think it was worth the hassle and said he was just going to keep it and closed the complaint. I can't be for sure, but I think he figured he'd just squeeze me for a refund and get a free emblem. If I screwed something up, then I may have done that, but it was his inability to read the ad that caused his issue. But I have learned since then, if I have more than one of whatever I'm selling, only one will get pictures.

As for Fleabay, they keep wondering why people don't want to fall all over themselves to set up a store or something. Their attitude toward sellers is abysmal, and seemingly never take the side of the seller. And then they're like "Why is our business model sucking?" I don't do facebook so that venue isn't an option for me, and neither is Craigslist. Guess I'll just have a big garage sale one day.

Well, that was a wall of words....

my reasoning for saying that is that he is using the packaging you sent him the new ones in so to me that means his has no packaging to support them being new old stock as he claims. Also why would he buy new ones from you if he already had a new set.

That is another reason I think the set he's peddling is USED. No proof, obviously. But interestingly, he has his auction listed as having 3.....is that sets or 3 knobs for $350 each? Either way, that's awfully pricey.

I don't care if he's trying to resell the knobs he bought from me. But those definitely aren't the ones I sent him. He probably replaced his on his car and now he's trying to get rid of his old ones so he can recoup more than his cost for new ones. That's not an idiot- that's pretty savvy IMO. But I think he's overestimating the supply side. I'll pop another set up on fleabay today maybe. If anyone willingly pays HIS price, they deserve what they get.
