I put a one on my 86 Regal but it is an aftermarket Buick 2nd design hood tach that is designed to work with HEI.

I think it would look pretty cool. I have thought about doing the same thing to my GP in the past and probably would have done it if I didn't already have a factory in dash tach.

Same thing the wife thinks, but the plastic dash would reeeeally bother me more if I cracked it. The big clock is so nice to look at😳. Metal is easier to fix, and it will improve resale.

I was going to do it on my wagon, but it just seemed redundant with the in-dash tach. I also tried to buy just the housing to stuff a boost gauge in it (future plans).

I like them. Buicks don't have a great option for a factory tach, the only ones that Regals got were the digital ones that came in turbo Regals. I thought about doing a hood tach but I didn't like the way it looked with my turbo hood. I ended up putting an Autometer tach on the dash and attached it to the side of the gauge surround so if I ever want to remove it I just have to replace the surround. I went with a short sweep tach so it would kinda match the speedometer.

I think it would look good. I don't like the idea of cutting the original hood but if you plan to keep the car for a long time and it pleases you, then you should do what pleases you.
