Tail light harness

Why don't you confirm there is power back there to the tail light connector before buying one.

If im not getting any power what would be the next step?

Test for power at back up switch or test the fuse.

I have the tail light harness from the 79 Bu I parted. It's in good shape, no cuts or splices, I even have a video of it working before I removed it.

But it sounds like you might not have a problem with the harness.

If you are still column shifted, try putting the lever in reverse, once the car goes into gear, slide the shift lever up a little ways toward park and see if your reverse light come on
