The issue with the TBI is what olds307 and 403 has mentioned. If you ever want to crank it up, then the tuning is a giant PITA. Not impossible at all, but mail order chips stink to deal with. And using an old harness and TB that are 30+ years old can be troublesome. Diagnosing issues also requires a firm understanding of how everything works.

This swap comes down to how much do you want to fiddle with something to get it to work at 250hp imho. Using most any aftermarket ECM with the factory TBI or TPI would be a much easier solution. For example, using a factory TPI with a Megasquirt 2 is extremely reliable and as close to plug and play as you'll find with almost infinite tuning possibilities. Personally, I would not go down the road of installing a stock TBI setup.

Ahhhh, all points taken...that should've been included as a disclaimer^^^if you're not willing or able to alter the tune beyond stock which also includes purchasing additional hardware then need to stay with stock configurations and what's the fun in that?
