There should not be any sealant on the sender, as it grounds to the block through the case. Teflon tape or other sealers may inhibit that ground path.

There is suggested diagnostic test that says if you ground the green wire which connects to the sensor while key is "On" and the gauge sweeps "hot" it means there is no break in the green wire leading to the gauge cluster and the gauge itself is working.Ground strap to body from engine reinstalled after 350 swap?

Hmm, that makes sense and is something I haven't tried yet. Will test that later today!Check the ground under the dash on the drivers side. Clean and tighten.
