One problem solved, another one to go.
Last month I posted the picture of the kickdown cable and the issue I have with the bracket. Ive spent some time looking for a shorter cable or a different bracket. The standard Holley bracket for a TH350 is this and it doesnt work with vortec heads. Although its compact and low the bolts are too close together on the bracket.

I found this one on the Edelbrock site. Anyone use it ? Says its made for a TH350 and vortec style motor. Its larger than I would want but it might be the only thing I can use. I grabbed one at the junkyard but its still not right. I think its for a 700.

The cable from your trans is for an early (pre-78 A body) type application. I went through hell finding the correct bracket/cable combo for my coupe. Very few yards have the older stuff anymore. I did eventually find one from a buddy's stash. There are many different OE brackets for throttle cables and trans cables, some hold each separately, others hold both.

What identifies the cable ? Is there a shorter version ? Got any idea of models to look for in a yard ? Cables are easy to buy if I knew which car to buy one for.

The early versions use the slotted end, later versions use the clip-on end from what I've seen

With an aftermarket bracket, it's really going to be a crapshoot as to which one is going to be best fitment. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of adjusting to be done after bracket is mounted. I wound up buying 2 cables (plus the one that was on the trans when I got it), and changing them in the car is no fun.

I guess the biggest issue is Im using the TH350 with the vortec motor. I can find the brackets for newer transmissions at the local yards. I just have a hard time dealing with the idea of something so simple holding up everything. Its very frustrating.

Look at my second comment on this page. LOL
You got the right company but the wrong part. Your picture is for a regular small block. Ive got a vortec. Needs the other bracket. Calling S+K today. If they dont have it Summit.
