Truth be known, I knew when I ordered my 87 442 in late 86 that I would certainly put a "real motor and drivetrain to match" in it some day. Granted, I had hoped to just do something/anything to the stock small block but decided to go BBO once all of the possible factory small block ideas were exhausted but how about a BBO that is actually fuel efficient? It wasn't until all of these wonderful suspension and brake toys started showing up that I considered turning a "sitting on your couch" ride around a corner into a corner carver. And you can go from the 15" wheels that were made horribly back then [I have the 4 originals plus 4 spares I bought later once I found how much balance weight they required and still ended up with 3 reasonably decent ones and 1 that's still crappy] to really nice 17s/18s if you are willing to cough up the coin and go from 15" 65 series splashy crap S rated tires to W rated high performance tires. Yes, you have completely changed the anemic drivetrain and grossly inadequate suspension and brake system from what it was . . . but into something worthy of a muscle car IMO while retaining the factory look of the G-body which I still absolutely love. And, it's 500 lbs lighter than the "Hey Day" muscle cars and might be getting lighter. Right now, I'll settle for just driving the car again . . .

Or, you can keep it completely stock purely for the nostalgia of it and your car will look great and likely be worth more than mine . . . maybe! That does seem to be changing . . .

I can only hope to take some of you for rides some day but you would not believe the difference just going from the 15" SSIIs that came on my 67 to 17" Restos of the SSIs with Michelin Pilot Sports on them did to the ride and handling of it. It is just a completely different car and the springs and shocks really need changed too. Got that covered . . . soon! Now, truthfully, even I kinda like "the look" of the smaller wheel with larger white letter tires on those old muscle cars but I'll take this ride and handling any day. Save all the old stuff for the next owner if they want to put it all back . . .

Nope. I am in Virginia. I bought the car like that from a bank in Indiana, it was reposessed, didnt have motor or transmission in it, 4 spare tires, interior was all jacked up. I put an LT1/T56 in it, but now it has an LS2/T56 Magnum. It had the paint on it, wasn't planning on keeping it, but haven't had $ to have it redone. I added a cowl hood.
