My junk yard dog finally broke. Came off the line with a great .003 light went into second and it felt like a loss of power like the torque convertor broke. Much to my surprise when my son(driving) got out on the track there was water coming out from some where. The track official thought it might be a block plug and asked if it would run or need a tow. Since he shut it down quickly we tried the starter and free wheeled. Got towed back to the trailer and was surprised to see this. Can't believe there wasn't any warning or noise. Glad there was a diaper on the engine, for safety and the track didn't get oiled down-the diaper caught it, they were running again in ten minutes.

Yes, autopsy pics would be interesting. This way you can learn from your mistakes and get it right next time....you know I'm kidding, - right?:)

Common problem with solid mounts.

Something gotta give somewhere.

That's why I run a cheepo rubber transmission mount.

you have to run the same type of mounts in the 3 locations......we ran solids on all our race cars and they never caused any problems but did point out problem with unusual vibrations in the drivetrain

I have been running solid engine and trans mounts on my Monte for over 20 years, if solid mounts were a problem I am sure my big block wouldn't waste any time letting me know where the weak point was.
I think the key is you can't have any movement at all.

Huh... running solid engine mounts and a poly trans mount in the wagon. There is still an amazing amount of "flex" in the solid mounts.

And yes, lets get some teardown details; plus the planned upgrades! ;)
