Pretty interesting viewpoint on the future of combustion engine cars going into the next decade.

It is known that Ford has stopped making several cars, and GM is following suit. Both will be focusing on the SUV / Truck market as Electric vehicles will take dominance in the market place.

Worth a watch at least.. Interested in knowing what others think..

I wouldn't say they are all idiots. Here's how things in technology work. Some company makes a widget. Widget is amazing, but insanely overpriced. Other companies copy technology and figure out how to do it slightly cheaper. Repeat said process over and over. Each time the price also drops.

Remember flat screen tv's? My wife's parents gave her a 32" LCD that was nearly $800. Now your can get a 45" LED on Black Friday for $99. Same will happen with battery powered electric cars. Then the fusion powered cars will come to overcome the inherent weaknesses of batteries. Etc, etc, etc.

All of this will take time though. Likely several decades. Maybe by the time I die I'll be driven to the cemetery in an electric hearse. Nah, I'll take a flame throwing El Camino doing burnouts :D

One serious issue with EVs is that the US electric grid is not up to the task to recharge that many EVs. Each rapid charger for EVs uses as much juice as 20 houses. Sadly, our grid is both outdated in design and in poor shape, much like our roads. Plus records and maps of power lines are often inaccurate. They often find long abandoned and forgotten lines that are still live. Basically before EV takes over for ICE, the power grid will need a complete rebuild.

That is not going into power generation. EVs need clean, study electricity which only coal and nuclear can provide. Electricity generated by green sources such as solar and wind is less stable and dirty, which can damage EV batteries or even cause them to combust.
