Ok I have a tilt column from a el camino like a 1980 and I'm puting it in my 81 Malibu my question is my Malibu is a stick shift so I don't have the gear selecter sticking out and the tilt column does can I switch the sleeves that hold that gear selecter to the smooth one that's on my original column. The second concern I have is the neutral safety switch that is in the tilt column with the gear selector I know if the gear selector isn't in the park position it won't start Once I remove that sleeve will that be gone along with it thanks

GM did produce a factory tilt column for manual transmission cars up until 1981, but they are EXTREMELY rare. I looked for about a year and a half, missed out on one, then was able to purchase one from a member on MalibuRacing.com. I did look into trying to build one, and talked to someone on MonteSS.com, who provided me with a list of donor parts to create a tilt/manual column. PM me if you're interested, and I can forward the parts list to you.
