I run 245/45R17 square Michelin Pilot Sports on all my cars, after dozens of trial and error it has always proved most cost effective and best performing in the long run.

I'm running Toyo HPII 225/50-17 on 8" wheels in the front, 255/45-17 on 9" wheels in the rear. Pretty sure your MCSS can take a little more tire, maybe 245/45 front, 275/40 rear.
Not promoting this suspension, but the video gives some action shots of a MCSS with that combo.

17x8 245/45 front 17x9 275/40 rear

Cooper rs3-s, because it's one of the few summer performance tire that isn't directional. With a staggered setup it allows rotating the tire from side to side to fix any wear issues.

I ran 275/40 in the front and they rubbed with the stock steering box so I downsized to the 245's and am happier.

You wouldn't have uneven tire wear problems if you stopped blowing up rearends. Just sayin'...

Careful - the way it is going blowing trannies may become mandatory.

Thanks for the reply. We have something in common. I"m in the middle of buying a black-tan Aerocoupe. Non T tops. I"m going to replace the cragers.
