I have a 1979 Chevy Malibu with stock suspension and I just installed some American Racing torque thrust 17 x 8 rims all the way around front wheels tires are 235 50 17 and I'm getting a little scrub on dips sometimes, Will a smaller Tire like a 225 50-17 eliminate the scrub or will I have to run a 17 x 7 wheel on the fronts I have bilstein front shocks and back shocks on the car? Thanks

No, the factory rating was something like 350lbs/in, and it's ridiculously soft. If you go with an S-10 or IROC spring, they are much stiffer, and the car will handle better to boot. You need something like the Moog 5558/60/62.... TURNA posted a chart with the rates, but I forget which thread it was in.

I run 275/35/18 on the front and have no scrubbing at all, backspacing, taller upper ball joint and stiff springs...

It all depends on what kind of ride and handling you want, and how much weight is on the front end. It might be too high, and you might have to cut them. You need to do a little research. Here's the chart I was talking about.....
