Hi All,

The tires on my 87 Cutlass are all dry rotted and I am looking to replace them with something a bit bigger. Currently they are 195/75/14. I am running 14" Rally wheels. I want the same size tire all the way around for ease of rotating tires. I know this has been asked a thousand times and I did search but did not find anything conclusive.

So my question is, can I run 225/70/14 tires? Or is there a better size to use on these stock 14" Rally wheels that I can run on the front and rear?

Thanks,
Tim

Not sure on 14,s but on 15,s 215 on front is supposedly the largest front tire without scrubbing on stock suspension . I can tell you that 235,s on 15,s do not work well , i have seen 285,s 15,s on rear and seem to work.

235/60/14 would be a good choice if you can find them. 14" "performance/sport" tires are getting hard to find. Might be worth the hassle to find 15" rally's if you want to keep the stock look. Then you'd have a slightly better choice. Stock 15" tires were 215/65/15 (MCSS, 442, GN). A 235/60/15 fits all four corners with no issues, what I've been running over 20 years. A key measurement to keep in mind is how tall of a tire to use, all stock 14" & 15" tires were 26" tall.

I ran 235/60-15 no problem on all four corners using a set of S10 steel rally rims that had they same zero offset as the stock 14s. The widest I'd suggest for 14s is a 225/60, which might rub on the fender liners in the front.

Ive got 14" Rally II's on my GP. Your Cutty may differ, but I don't think they do...

Right now, I've got 225/70-14 Rear, 235/60-14 Front - about a 1.3" Stance. While I don't mind the stance, and the meat up front, they're date-coded 1994 and the 235/60-14's on the front now, rub at full turn. :(

I am going with 225/70-14 on the back - 205/70-14 on the front.. Thats what I'm doing on my GP. Give it about a 1" Stance.

As far as all the same size, if you held me down and made me do it, I would go with 205/70's but really, rotating only really needs to go Left-Right, so switching L/R Front and L/R Rear is perfectly fine in my book.

I run 14 inch 225 /70's om my 1980 442 they rub the inner fender well just at the end of a full turn when backing out of a tight space but 98% of the time all good have a good day and good luck Jeff from Winnipeg

215/70/14 Cooper Cobras. Same general height as your stockers. Here's what they look like on my car.
