Don't worry about what others are doing, start a build thread if that's what you want to do. It'll help you keep track of what you've done already and you'll be able to look back at how the build progressed over time

All build threads are great, you never know what you may have been through that will help someone else in their quest. I'd say do it.

if we all thought that way there'd be only one thread.you should start one, watching each others progress is a way we build each other up around here.

I'm going to have a lot of questions coming soon, and it's easier to have them in one place.

I guess a pic to get things started.

Current state of the s!ht show.

I will update with where it was, and how it came along this week as I dig up old pictures of progress.

So after hauling everything home. Did a refresh on a 7.5 2.41 rear I had. Put fresh stock brakes and new bearings and seals in it. Cleaned and painted everything.

Did a little work to the body. Sorry, can't find pictures.

Got new stock brakes with the frame, put those on so I'd have a roller. Got new body bushings, so prepped the body to go on the frame. Painted most of the underside of the body with chassis paint.

Body on frame.

That was the point where two pieces became one. Know I'm missing a bunch of little stuff, but it was awhile ago.

Will update more as I find pictures.

Some of this is out of order from how I did it but just trying to catch the thread up.

78 parts car....

IMG_20190127_172728926.jpg

Donated its header panel and bumper since there are in good condition. Also donated a lot from the inside that I will get to. Also the tailgate and fuel door.

The 79 white car that is in a million pieces donated its complete doors. I used them at the time so I could get it close to looking like a car. Also donated it dash and steering wheel.

Also put it's rough running 305 and th200 in it so I could get it to move under its own power.

I don't have any pics of when it was close together. Just these from different points.

The engine and transmission were never to be long term. Just a means to get it to a running and driving point. I've touched everything on this car and it needs a once over near it's completion. Anyways the engine and transmission were acting up. Got a deal I couldn't pass on as a replacement.

L96 6.0 with a 6l90e.

Was a pain getting it out.

IMG_20211205_133417611.jpg

Purchased ICT adapter plates and started putting it in. Made my own frame extension, cut my original cross member down and made it fit.

Oh yeah and cut my floor pan to fit that pig in there. Will have to get a pic of that later.

This is why you should have a helper sometimes......

And maybe not drink while you work!

That's how I messed up my HVAC box. So the interior is ripped out again to remove the box.

That pretty much gets me to current state. Now I can start asking my many questions to work forward.

I would love to drive this thing some day, not leave it for my son to inherit

Whoa, whoa, whoa - not drink while you work?? You're not one of those Jerry Falwell conservatives are ya?

A subtle reminder - you don't drink and drive, not work on hotrod and not drink. Just sayin' and I don't feel I'm alone when the 'what are you drinking tonight' thread has more pages than most build threads ;)

Enough pickin'. Can't you fix that cover with some fiberglass and actually modify it enough to have more clearance?
