Both will work, but the 200R4 is better with 4 speeds and overdrive which saves gas. Also no vacuum line to worry about with the 200R4.

You probably want overdrive with those gears.

If it's just a cruiser to drive around town and bs in the 3 speed with a mild b&m shift kit will make everything a lot more fun around town but if you're going to visit other states in it you really need that 4th gear for the interstate or you'll really miss it when your on the highway droning along getting like 13 mpg on a road trip :puke:

Sweet spot to consider is a 350 with 700R4 (0.70 OD) and 3.08 or 2.73 rears. Another option is a 350 with 200-4R (0.67 OD) and 3.73 or 3.42 gears. The 700R4 was designed for moving a big car, having a 3.06 first vs ~2.42 for a TH350/200-4R. Goal should be highway speed at 2000 RPM or less. 2200 used to give me a painful drone with turbo mufflers. 400 SBC with TH350 and 3.73 was around 4000 RPM at 65 MPH. My feet got hot when I took out the ratty carpet.

Go with the 200R4, 4 gears are better than 3. You can still put it in normal Drive for blasts, then put it in OverDrive for normal driving to save gas and wear.

Agreed for the most part but the 200 series uses a 2.74:1 first.
