Trans crossmember help.

Morning everyone. Where can I get replacements of these for my crossmember. They smush in-between it and the frame where it bolts the car is a 1979. Originally a th200 now has a th350 in the car with the Buick V6.

I could also use photos of how it went and bolted up underneath if anyone has some. The spare crossmember i was going to use... the mounting holes on the sides are different than mine. (Smaller) probably due to it being from a SBC/350 car and a 78.


Any help appreciated. Trans is in the car but need to finish this up.

I usually make replacements out of steel of equal thickness just to keep the trans at the factory angle, you will still have a rubber/poly trans mount to absorb vibrations and allow some movement.

I see. I'll try to read the numbers on mine I'd much rather stick with the rubber. I'll get photos of my Crossmembers soon

457908 insulator (white) was replaced with 459092 (blue) in 1982.

Insulator sits on frame, then transmission support, insulator #2, then retainer (the part with the pegs) goes through there. Then a bolt goes up from underneath the frame bolt holes and a nut retains the top of the bolt. That's what it shows in the parts information.

VIN 9 Olds I don't believe ever had these, so I'm not familiar with them.

Hmm. I didn't remove these my father did and that was 6 Yrs ago at least. So I'm not familiar with out photos that's why i asked on my post lol. Do you know what size bolts/nuts? All my sh*t is everywhere. Also was this combo only a v6 thing? I have never seen it on V8 cars. Pre-81-82 thing?

Interesting, seems pretty hard to comeby nowadays so many ppl swap their v6 cars. My father had a '79 malibu 229 chevy v6 and it was a manual car, floor 3spd?

My 87 442 was just straight bolted to the frame. No insulator to be found.

My original 6cyl crossmember had them. I thought it was more to hold the nutsert bracket so they could be zipped on with an impact and wouldn't need a wrench on the assemby line
