Im lQQking to replace the one thats currenty being used for my 700R4 trans, its by "Lokar", while it works well and serves its purpose, i want an original OEM dipstick and tube, for i really dont care for an aftermarket unit that will give me fitment issues... does anyone happen to know any GM numbers i can go by?

Thanks

The 700R4 was never used in this chassis. Closest OEM stick you will find will be from a B body or a Corvette and it might have fitment issues too.

What about a F body or S truck?
Thats a very good question... as long as it will fit as close as possible along the g-body firwall.

Heat and a pipe bender are your friend. Any stock tube can be made to work.

Here's what I can find for 700-R4.

93 F-body MD8 transmission (700)

Tube. 10150054 superseded to 12550136, supposedly fits 4L60E too.
Indicator. 10150055 and 10241661 (1661 is that stiff cord like deal with the ball on the end. Not your typical dipstick).
Tube Seal. 1259475 (still available from GM)

91-93 B-body (700-R4)

Tube- 10085259
Indicator- 10186815 superseded to 10186882
Tube seal. 1259475.

That should get you started.

Great info.

Just like a needle in a haystack, this venture might not be fruitful as these OEM items are getting extremely hard to find to non existant.... so has anyone ever used an actual aftermarket metal tube and dipstick, if so, which one has worked for you?

Thanks

Little late to the party but I can confirm the dip stick and tube from an F Body will work. I'm storing a 82 or 83 vintage 700r4 for a friend and compared the bell housing curve area to the tube from the 200r4 out of my El Camino. While the tube for the 200r4 enters the transmission further back and sticks straight up behind the passenger side cylinder head, the 700r4 tube follows up to the cylinder head and has a slight curve that moves it away from the firewall towards the valve cover.

I'm using a tci tube and locking indicator. Only problem for me is that it curves forward over the valve cover, other than that it works as intended.
