transmission fluid question...Modulator question

Ok so Im getting ready to put in a used turbo 350 in my 86 cutlass. Bought new filter and gasket. What fluid should I use? Is royal purple max atf ok? And what about replacing the modulator? Its cheap so Im wondering if I should? The trans is out of a 81 regal. thanks in advance
