Transmission Mount

I have an 88 Cutlass Supreme Classic (200-4r trans) and I was wondering how do you replace the transmission mount? Can I do it by myself?

yeah u can do it ur self. u need to put the car on jack stands high enough for u to work under it. then get a floor jace with a 2by4 or something similar to put under the trans pan so u can lift it up a bit. unbolt the mount from k member and from trans and install ur new one in reverse order.

so after I lift the car up I need a jack to lift up the transmission and thats all?

pretty much! obviously you need some wrenches too, sometimes they can be a pita to get out but most of the time its really simple.

do i have to put the transmission in neutral or anything like that

No. Just remove the nut in the middle. Push the end up with a jack or your friend. Undo the two bolts and pull it out. That's all there is to it.

I just took the transmissio mount off and i installed the new one but the bolt in the middle is not lining up with the cross member i dont know what to do now

well I loosened up the bolts until it lined up with the cross-member then i lowered the trans, i got the mount installed but it didnt fix my problem. my trans jerks back hard when i put it into reverse and i thought this would fix it but it didnt. what could be my problem?
