Transmission to speedometer cable question....

Good afternoon forum...I am going to order a speedometer cable for my 1980 Malibu. I have a 700R4 transmission in the car at present. If I order a speedo cable for that transmission would it hook up to my stock speedometer? Just checking before I order. You guys know your stuff here 4 sure. Thanks in advance for any help here....

When I replaced a TH350 with a 700-R4 and later a 200-4r, the stock cable plugged in both cases. Not sure if the speedo gears are the same so you can transfer the set to your 700-R4 so the speedo remains correct for the rear end ratio.
