Trying to adjust the trunk lid
And I understand the 2 hinge bolts to adjust the front and back and twist if necessary

But along the back window of the trunk
It’s flush in the centre and the trunk lid drops on each corner around 3/16 - 1/4 inch

Any tips on how to lift just the corners?
I’ve heard opening the trunk and wedging in a 2x4 on the corners but I haven’t tried yet since I’d like more confirmation before I go monkeying around on my trunk

i will be the first to ask for pictures to understand where your starting from.
The tail lights and the trunk are level, but the back corners have dropped nearly 1/4 inch

And the centre back is still level

So it’s just the corners that need to be raised and from what I’ve been told and read online

I need to try and flex it back

OK, that's the front of the deck lid

From the pics, you need to raise the front of the lid by loosening ONLY the forward-most bolt on each hinge and pulling/pushing the front of the lid up. Adjust the corners to fit the quarters, then address the trunk filler panel to fit. It's already too high on the right side, should be flush to the quarter...left side looks OK. The filler panel can be shimmed up in the center to align to the lid.

If you try to adjust the lid NOT at the hinges by closing it on a block, you're going to bend the lid corners up and the lid will no longer be flat across it's surface (nor will it fit flush the length of the quarter).

These are old school cars with a LOT of adjustment, not a late-model with no adjustment that requires sheetmetal tweaking to make proper panel fit.

2x4 it!!!!!!!!

I dare you!!!

As said, it is adjustable. I had to play around when changed my trunk lid.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen one fitting that bad. If it’s at all possible, find another deck lid to try. If it fits the same way then it’s your car that’s the problem. Maybe the hinges got squeezed together to close, that COULD cause the lousy fitment

They'll fit worse than that if it's all the way up in the rear holes, and all the way down in the front holes. Lid's fine, just needs some adjusting.

Ok so the only adjusting bolts that I can see are the 2 on each side you can see when the lids up

I’ve checked all around inside the curved hinge and can’t see any other adjusting screws

Can the 2 bolts on the side adjust in every direction?
Or just forward and back?

Reread my first post.

You can adjust the height of the front of the lid there

The 8mm shank of the bolt goes through a square hole about 15mm across, which allows movement in up/down and fore/aft planes. Loosen ONLY the front bolts if the front to rear and side to side spacing of the lid is good. This will allow you to move the front lip of the lid up without losing the front/back fit

**************** THIS IS IMPORTANT**********************

The bolts only thread into the thin wall of the hinge tubing. Go easy on tightening them, as they will strip if excessive force is used when tightening.

My coupe's previous owner did just that, and I had to open the holes in the hinge and weld in a threaded insert for the bolt to run into. Not a good time.
