MALIBU Turbo 400 dip stick

I’m looking for a transmission dip stick that will fit my 81 Malibu. It has a turbo 400 and a 350 sbc. The current transmission dip stick is a cheap flexible one that is not working out.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Because of the tight confines in my engine compartment I went with a Lokar steel braided one that is mounted to my firewall, it is flexible but not cheap.

Key word - cheap - go back to the original tube, if you don't have it you can buy one or even get a chrome one cheap OR pay for a good braided one.

Mine has a stock replacement with the locking dipstick. No clearance issues with a Cad 500 forced back against the firewall.

Approach one of these companies that sell transmissions.they'd be able to tell you what works well and what doesn't.

A lot of aftermarket ones have level calibration issues.

If you do go something aftermarket, measure the dipstick to pan level and make sure the level is right.

I used a Hughes locking dipstick on my T-400. The tubes are pretty much all the same once they get in the area of the bellhousing.
