Sorry Jared, I keep forgetting about this thread and your request every time I’m out working on the car.
I don’t know if what you’re looking for is GP specific or not, but you did originally say that you’d be interested in other examples. Here’s the factory installed hood light on Olds Cool (after I restored it of course).

does everyones work like mine? only turns on when you have the headlights on?
Yup my olds delta 88 is like that, ill post a pic of it in a sec.
My 86" Regal factory under hood light uses a mercury switch so it turns on whenever I open the hood with nothing else on.
My Monte under hood lights are the same except I have dual lights and I also have them wired to a switch in the engine bay that can shut them off because I found when I full throttle it they would light up
When I first put my light in I had a junction block hard wired into the main hot wire under the hood so it would work at all times. Since ripping everything apart I have it set up to be part of the fused circuit thats hot at all times & is part of the forward light harness & color coded to that circuit (orange).
