There may be a reason it's way cheaper. I'm not going diving into which kit gets what, but while the jeep kit may fit, who makes the bearing? That's obviously the costliest part of the deal and the quality of that bearing is key. They may all be the same exact kit, or not. That's my question. You can always buy the cheap kit, then come back later and buy the more expensive kit to fix it if it screws up. They seem to have more of the more expensive kits around.

Just saying.

you are looking at a difference of around $25 for a part that will last 30 or so years, so it'll cost you $ 0.0022 per day to get the proper part vs the jeep part.

I popped mine out of an Astro van in the junkyard. Works well and was cheap...$.00. I was pulling Astro intermediate shafts at the time.

Just make sure you take the snap ring and outer sleeve as well as the bearing. I cleaned it and and re-packed it. I believe it's also mentioned on You Tube. I noticed after replacing it, it took up the play in the lower column shaft.

Hey guys my question wasn't so much about the price, more along the lines of: "are they all the same size OD and ID etc?

here's the detail everyone wanted.....yes, the Jeep bearing fits on a G-body steering shaft, Bearing number is J4486713. It is a very nice fit, I had to clean and polish all the grime off the shaft before it would fit though.
