78 Malibu w/a <50k stock 2bbl/sbc. The fuel pump was/is leaking from around the crimped seam that held the top & bottom together.
The previous owner had purchased an 'AC Delco' pump & it was swapped on before I started working on the car (prior to Feb '19). While diagnosing possible issues after the car died (Jun '19), I replaced the 'new/leaky/Delco' pump when replacing all the rotted fuel lines. The 'new' pump I installed is a Delphi unit & was installed @ the beginning of July. It is the same constuction as the AC Delco was. After noticing a strong gas odor when parked in its garage, I found it's also now leaking @ that same crimped seam.
Is there a standard replacement parts manufacturer that makes one thats bolted together vs the crimped version? This doesn't need anything high end but I'd like to eliminate the leak.
