i have 2 vaccum lines coming out my firewally ones purple and ones white i think there for the heater cuz i have air coming out the vents but not hot and there not hooked up anyone know were they go?

Im just guessing here, but I know one goes to the heater control valve and I think the other one goes to the vacuum ball/reserve. You might be able to figure out which goes to what by the length of the lines.

I just tackled the vacuum lines on my car a few days ago. The white one is for the heater control valve and the purple goes from the small output on the vacuum accumulator to the HVAC dash switch. There is a black line that feeds the larger of the two bungs on the accumulator with engine vacuum, but there is also a check valve between the black line and the engine. The check valve prevents the system from losing stored vacuum while the engine is under acceleration. I also added a second, larger accumulator to my car, but that's another story...

Anyhow, if you break these plastic lines, there is an easy way to fix (or lengthen) them. Cut a small piece of washer fluid line and use it to splice it. Put a little black silicone on the plastic line before inserting it in the washer fluid line and it should seal it just fine. This is a nice tip to know because these things are very brittle after 20-30 years, and you might break one.

Great advice! Give yourself a pat on the back for that one!

I'm also troubleshooting some vaccuum issues . . . my heater isn't working on vent (it only comes out very light out the vent and heavy on defroster). . . I checked for leaks and suspect the AC/Heater control unit but still no sure.

did the vin 9 307s have two vaccuum balls? Mine only has one, for the cruise on the drivers side wheel well. I never had the other one.

also, does anyone have a pic of this check valve mentioned above?

There is one vacuum reservoir for the HVAC system and a second one for the cruise control. The check valve is Dorman P/N 47150.

There is a second vacuum ball behind the RH headlight in the radiator support panel. (At least on a '88)
