Just noticed this difference in vent windows that I pulled from a 78 Malibu wagon.

Could one be from a different year or model? The pass side looks like this drivers side I pulled from a 81 4 door Malibu.

Just curious since I don't remember seeing this before.

I must have made this clear as mud, look at the bottom of the window, how the difference in the "track" from the passenger side and drivers side. Top picture both windows are from a wagon.

Now I see what you're talking about...never really paid any attention to channel length, since it's only there to hold the window in.

Probably figured out they could save 10 cents a car by shortening them...lot of money when you build millions of them

    Jeff,
I think I had encountered the same difference pulling vent windows from the junkyard. I thought it might have been a difference between a Malibu, Regal, Cutlass Crusier wagon. Maybe not.
Why they did that is beyond me.

I looked at a few vent windows that I have that came off my wagon. I have long and short vent windows just as Jeff indicated. I think I had replaced one years ago with one that came from a Cutlass Cruiser. That may be why they're different. I think it was the short legged one that came from the Olds.

That was what I was thinking one of the windows came from a different model or at least the year. It doesn't make sense that there would be two different styles except mentioned above the cost savings.
