I know I've made many of these threads, but I keep coming up with "solutions" and none of them have worked so far. I bought a cable that seemed to be the right one, but its like it's too long at 48". It basically hits the firewall but it cant be any father forward because it won't be pulled by the carb and activated, or kick down. I've been told that my carb has the wrong nub on it for a Th350 kickdown cable, but I've seen many Th350 kickdown cables on this type. Should I use the BLACK TEARDROP shape cable end for a Th350 (picture taken from Blake442's 350buick/Th350 swap from a 3.8 and Th200) or a SLOTTED cable (my picture) like I have now? I would vastly prefer to have a working kickdown. Carb is from a 1978 Buick 350, #17058241. 750cfm. Engine VIN for a 350 Buick with a 4 barrel I believe is VIN J.

Have you considered placing a bolt in the slot of the cable end, ahead of the stud on the carb? The idea or theory is to have the TV or kickdown cable pulled at WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

I mean place a small 1/4 inch bolt and nut, tightened up in the slot to shorten the slot/cable travel?

PS:
You can get an aftermarket adjustable cable with the black teardrop for around $30 from most transmission supply houses. It uses a barrel screw to set the cable length.

I have tried that, and all it did was bend the slot on the cable. Pioneer cables are sh*t. I might just spring for one from lokar or something similar that doesn't suck. I know in a sense the kickdown for a Th350 is supposed to float a little on the nub on the carb and only be pulled from 3/4 to full throttle. I'm probably just gonna install the cable and whatnot when I take the transmission out and put a new Th350 in (mine exploded) and test if its working and actually pulling the little tank at 3/4 to WOT while the drivetrain is out of the car.

Try a cable from a transmission sup ply place first.
