Currently swapping a mild street 5.3 in my 78 el camino. I bought a walbro in tank fuel pump and spectre sending unit. The wiring connectors don’t match up and I couldn’t unpin the top connector. I soldered and heatshrinked the wires. I am wondering if there is any safety concern? I know that I should get a baffled tank but that may have to come later.

Also realizing the heat shrink probably won’t hold up. Any other gas safe insulating material suggestions?
