Have an 83 Monte ss. Getting water in on passenger side when it rains. Where is heater box drain?

Anyone dealt with this?

Pretty common with lots of causes. Box drain is under evaporator core if you have AC. Open hood and have someone with a water hose gently trickle go into fresh air inlet, windshield and around housing

Thank you. Easiest access point?

There is no easy. It is under the unit hidden behind the inner fender.

That bolt hole clip in the pic is the large bolt in the front pass side fenderwell closest to the firewall

As I recall you can reach yor arm under the case and there is a boot/nipple with a spring clamp which you can remove. Also remove the resistor block and look inside the case to see if you see a bunch of debris

It's either the drain flapper on the bottom of the HVAC housing, the seal around the HVAC housing itself, or it could be a body seam or God forbid a windshield leak.

Check this page for the flap location on the bottom of the HVAC housing. PITA to get to so you may want to take the blower motor out and get it from the top. Easiest thing to check. These hardly ever get cleaned out and they clog easily.

Check this page out where you can see what the flap looks like.

Here's the end-result of this issue festering on my '78:

Luckily: A Goodmark patch panel helped me bring things back to semi-normal.

'TURNA': I forgot all about that vent. I'll have to take a look and see if it's plugged! Thanks!

My 86 had a small leak due to a body seam failure just under the corner of the windshield. Don't forget to clear the cowl drain opening behind the wiper motor as indicated by the screwdriver. It's much easier to spot bad seams with a white car,
