With the pulley setup and belt you have, which direction would it turn the pump? That's the deciding factor. If the stuff pictured above is yours then yes, a reverse rotation pump is correct. In this setup the water pump runs counterclockwise. Am I correct for thinking I need a reverse direction water pump. I've researched it and can't seem to find a definitive answer
It will be running the pulley counterclockwise. I just wanted to make sure I was thinking of it rightWith the pulley setup and belt you have, which direction would it turn the pump? That's the deciding factor. If the stuff pictured above is yours then yes, a reverse rotation pump is correct.
A friend once bought a '72 C10 with a Vortec 350 & overheating issues and he eventually cracked a cylinder head. Once we started looking we realized that it had the Vortec pump (CCR) yet the truck had the original serpentine setup. When we removed the pump both passages were completely corroded shut.
It's super easy to confuse yourself thinking about these things and I've messed it up more than once. It never hurts to bounce an idea off the forum. It will be running the pulley counterclockwise. I just wanted to make sure I was thinking of it right
