Am looking for the proper water temp sensor for a 1984 Hurst Olds 307 have tried 2 different sensors with various results.
first one had 2 spade terminals on it ohm meter shows a open "no resistance" reading and of course no working check engine light commes on after driving about 2 blocks. It fits the hole in the manifold properly 1/2" pipe threads.
Second one has a 3/8" pipe size cut dwn a bushing to make it fit the manifolld and extended the threds to get it closer to the water flow. It has a 2 pin connection with a socket lead. looks like the example in the shop book "aftermarket one" but still don't work ohm meter shows resistance of about 2.45 K ohms across contacts. Now you can drive about 5-6 miles before check engine light comes on. So am thinking either the sensor is not correct or it is not gitting deep enough in the water passage to get a good reading. I lean towards #1 not the right one
Need the proper sensor part # one made to go in a 1/2 pipr thread hole.
Thanks in advance
