So tearing apart this completely rusted 78 Cutlass I came across something I have never seen before on a Gbody. The body bushing in the center position of the frame didn't have a bolt but was just this grommet style bushing that fit down in the frame and sat up against the body. This seems to take away a good mounting point and make the chassis even weaker, anyone ever seen these before? Most of my cars have been later models so not sure if this was just a late A body thing

sounds like the GNX bushing , that I believe only the GNX got.
but many guys install when they redo their bushings.

The GNX bushing would be back by the rear frame hump, quite a few Gbodys got that style. This one is the middle body bushing in line with right about where the front seats are

Sounds like the car was built on a Monday, some G bodies came from the factory missing some of the body bushings and it looks like someone put the #5 position bushing in place of the #3 position bushing....

My Monte (late '81) & a parts Monte (early '86) had those in the #5 position with complete top/bottom mount in the #3 position.
