I'm looking at purchasing a wet/dry vacuum. I've been chatting with a couple of other members here regarding brands, features, etc. Anyone here have any good or bad experiences, any recommendations? Keep in mind that I'm in Canada, so some brands may not be available here. I've heard some good things about Craftsman, but I know that Sears is having problems, and may not be around much longer. Is the ShopVac brand the best? Thanks in advance.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a shopvac! Should be available anywhere, even in the great white north...that being said replacement parts should be easier to fetch vs some brands.
Do you guys have Home Depot, Lowe's, Menards up there?

Like everything its a trade off for quality vs money.
I inherited " from my former employer" an Interclean Industrial wet vac. I recall when he bought it that it was over $1k and that had to be at least 18 to 20 years ago. Its been thru hell, and yet quiet enough that you can hold a conversation with it running. It also has a washable filter that is fine enough hold drywall dust without creating a cloud and not losing suction. Same filter used on the wet side ( just need to wash it afterwords ). But damn I can only imagine what it would cost to replace
On the other hand I buy a 3 gallon shop vac ( and a package of ear plugs ) every 5 years or so. It has just as good suction as the Interclean. I find the filter design sucks. Never ones need the filter to be replaced, the older ones just had a foam filter for wet and a bag covering the foam for dry. I find after a couple years the motors burn out and damn they are so loud it makes my ears ring. But you cant beat them for the price

I have a Rigid from Home Dopey as well for about 15 years and I use it hard everyday.

Only thing I ever changed on it was the filter twice.

Cheap and easy to fit attachments/parts for.

Don't buy a one off no name for a "good" price and then never be able to find a part or accessory for it.

Thanks Kevin. Saw that in the flyer that arrived here today.
Cant go wrong with a big Craftsman no matter what happens to Sears. I'm on my 2nd one in 25 years, now that includes building a 2 story addition on my house and redoing the rest of the house (My other hobby). If you've done any home remodeling, you know what kind of abuse a w/d vac goes through. Whenever this one dies, I hope I can buy another Craftsman
