What are these wires.

I’m looking to identify these two wires. One has a red connector on it but isn’t plugged in. The other black wire I know is a ground but a ground for what? It was heavily corroded and I am cleaning it up but am curious as to what system it’s grounding.

If needed I can take better pictures when I’m back at the car tomorrow. Car is a 1987 Olds 442.

Red one like that on the newer stuff goes to the EVAP system purge valve

The red one doesn't connect to anything. It's used for the anti diesel solenoid on vin Y cars. Vin 9 cars don't use one but the wire is still there

That’s good to know. Any ideas what the black ground wire might be to?

Sorry for the delay, here’s a closeup hopefully it helps. I did clean the contacts just to remove the resistance.

Black with white stripe>>>> ground wire attached to HVAC fan motor.

Purple wire >>>> power wire to HVAC fan motor.

Four ("4") conductor resistor connector which has the following color wires: i.) Brown; 2.) Dark Blue; 3.) Tan; and 4.) Light Blue. See attached pic.
