i was wondering what were the bars in the bed of pickup trucks that hold the lights that hang over the cab? i was looking into buying a 80's chevy c-10

back in the day, they were referred to as "roll bars", as you really saw most of them on 4x4's

Try a truck specialty shop, or a 4x4 parts store. You might even find them in an Auto Zone, or a store like that.
