So Ive got my Vin9 307 honed, re-ringed and reassembled.

It looks a little rough around the edges and I am thinking of painting it.

Looking for color suggestions and paint recommendations. have any pics?

I believe black is the "correct" color. It's great for hiding those minor oil seeps that pop up over time but kind of boring. Gold is the "classic" Olds engine color. It's really up to you -- Any color you want.

Did not some SBO get painted chevy Blue? I seems to recall some of them that way. Maybe those were all 260s?

I do think Gold would be amazing. It would make it look more like a 350 and people will KNOW its an Olds.

I would paint out black just cause it hides oil leaks. Paint it the color of the car.

Prior to 83?, most sbo s were painted gm corp. blue, back to77? After 82, I believe they were painted black, but then the only sbo left, was the 307.

Just don't srpay bomb everything with one color ... it looks very tacky

yea I am with you on that, but with the engine assembled most of it will be gold. I will pull off the engine mounts and ex manifolds.

I dont think the aluminum intake look would work with gold paint so Ill probably paint it gold too.

All the pulleys and accessories will be natural finish.

Off to shop for some paint....

If you really want to weird people out you could paint it the silver-blue-gray color used on the Olds 5.7 diesel. And I agree with RITTER, don't paint everything the same color. I think you should leave the intake aluminum.
