Everytime I get a saw I take it down to this point and clean it up. That 461 looks pretty good, parts should be here this coming week to get it back together and running.

All my parts came in and I was able to put this together with my 25" ES Bar, full Chisel Chain. Balances quite well. Modded the muffler and it has the open port cover so looking forward to see what this does dialed in.😀

Rented an underground chainsaw today. Weather is nice, had the day off, getting rid of the mulberry tree stump.

Yesterday I was discussing a stump grinder I used when I first bought my house. I rented this old stump grinder from a co-worker, needed a 3/4ton truck to move it. It had hydraulics to move both left to right and in and out. The wheel was about 30" in diameter. It was powered by a 4 cylinder Wisconsin motor and it was an absolute beast. I ground 35+ stumps of 2'+ diameter over the course of two days. It actually made doing the work fun.

I'm sure that nothing like that thing can purchased any longer due to both emissions and safety, But if you wanted to grind a stump, rocks, chase roots or just make a nice hole in the ground it got the job done in moments.

Put the 461 to work this past weekend, half dead oak at a buddy's place near his house. 27" at the cut, went down where it needed. 261 in for the light work.

This one died haha...

Surfing through the local facebook marketplace, guy had this 20" Farm Boss Bar and 3 brand new Stihl chains for sale, $60 takes all. I guess he had a MS271 that melted the case down, didn't ask. One of the chains had about 5 links on it that saw some heat.

Snagged that all up as spares for my MS261. 🤘

I'm kinda hesitant to screw with it. Seller turned out to be 80 (80 year old guys always let you know that) who does saws out of his garage. There were 8 or so on his benches that I saw and he asked me a couple times if I had or knew anyone who had broken saws to sell. The CL ad said he had 3 036s but I got the last one. Looks to be in nice shape for its age. It was stone cold when I got there and it fired right up on his first pull. He topped off the bar oil and fuel for me. Freshly sharpened chain too. When I got it home it started on the second and I ran it for about a minute. Sounds like he has it pretty dialed so I probably won't mess with it. When this row of 80-90 footers hits the ground I'll put it to work.

Green ones stay. Yellow ones drop into the field on the left. Red ones lean hard right and will get climbed and dropped in sections. There's 2 powerlines to contend with. Tree service guys are putting them on the ground for me.

There's also a row of willows with 3'+ trunks that are kind of pissing me off.
