Glad to see it isn't worse. Its feelings are hurt but it isn't.
I've floated with the idea of putting aluminum supports on, the solid kind, but after this happening, it compressed the shocks and f*cked the bumper. I'd much rather have that than bending the frame.

Took 2 days (technically only a combined 10 hours) by myself in my driveway, but I finally got that damn torque converter in. Took 8.5 quarts before it would go into gear. Lord. Had to walk my *ss to the gas station at midnight-thirty to get 5 quarts of atf. No leaks, 2500 BB rated converter foot brakes to 2000, flashes to 2600. Neat.

Tell me more about your converter. Sounds like a good one for my setup. What brand? What did it cost? Were did you get it?

Hughes, GM25BPO (comes with bolts). 2500 BB rated stall, mine flashes to 2600 and i can foot stall it to 2000. I'd say more 1900, the tires will start to drag at 2000. The 3.8 is a smaller 350, so I assume it should behave similar. Is yours a Th350C? Mine is a normal Th350.

Bought it from Summit for $241.99.

Good news - rejetted my carb a little leaner and the high end really woke up. It is still a little soggy before the secondarys kick in, but I need to hook up the wideband O2 sensor before tinkering further.

Bad news - my brake pedal got soggy, and I found that one of my rear brake cylinders has chooched it's last.

Also, jet kits don't give you many options to go leaner than stock. I may be stuck buying another, different $40 calibration kit if I need to go any farther on jets or rods.

I have looked at that converter a few times. My transmission is the original Th350. I do not expect the transmission to live too long with my new setup. I do have a Chevy bolt patern Coan 350 transmission with a manual reverse pattern valve body I could put in. Not sure if the transmission pumps are the same or not though. Ultimately I would like to build a 200r4 eventually for the car. With a 2000 rpm foot brake, that would get me into the boost nice at launch.

A shift kit is $50 to make it last a little longer, if it hasn't been done already. I like the Trans Go 350-1-2 kits. I have the "soft" Street spring, and it barks the tires about half the time on the 1-2. For under 250$, I'd say the converter is worth it. Afaik non lockup Th350s all use the same converter, reguardless of bellhousing pattern. Only difference is Th350-Th350c. The converters themselves are different, BOP stuff uses Bolts, Chevy uses nuts and bolts to secure the flexplate to converter. The TH350c of course has it's own converter.

I spent the morning installing a new oil pan gasket. Woo Hoo! Then since i had the engine lifted already, the afternoon pulling manifolds and sitting my headers ( Doug's full length) in the car. Tomorrow is header clearanceing and hopefully finishing up.
