What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

Removed the windshield today and saw the reason it was leaking. Once again letting a "professional" do something on my GP reminded me to do everything myself, even if it takes me 10 tries to get it right. I had built up the ledge for the windshield so it would sit almost flush with the body. The "experts" who build custom cars and install windshields suggested what rubber trim they could use. That rubber trim worked it way out so I filled the void temporarily. The windshield developed a few leaks last summer so I removed it to find the rubber seal they used prevented the windshield from sitting on the top ledge for about half way due to the windshield from being put in crooked. After I got the windshield out and cleaned everything up I put it back in and slid it up as far as it would go. The window will sit flush with the body and there will be a small gap around the window and body which will be easily filled. If the "professionals" had test fitted the windshield like I had asked I don't think I would be installing a new one this year.

Most of the new stuff uses a molding that goes on the glass first, then is set as an assembly, rather than filling the gap after the glass is set.

Some (Kia and Hyundai, as I recall) use nothing to fill the gap, the glass is set flush to the sheetmetal and has a small gap all around

I got the El Camino put back together enough to take a test drive. It overheated after about 2 or 3 miles. I thought the timing may have been too far advanced, and backed it off some. It is still running hot and I am assuming that it is just not fueling correctly, since the O2 sensor is not hooked up yet. The bung will be coming in Friday, then I get to try out my cast iron welding skills.

Started the T56 swap yesterday. SSM clutch pedal kit, custom slave cylinder bracket to use the old style mechanical bellhousing, and a few hours on my back under the dash. The heavy lifting will take place when the new clutch kit comes in, still need to order that

Why is the bracket bolted to the firewall? wouldn't the booster hold it in place?

That was for mock up so I could locate the where the master would go through the firewall. It does get bolted in with the booster. The pedal feel is just like a new car. Light and smooth. I’ll be rowing my own gears by the end of the summer. What pedal setup are you using turna?

I have the John B pedal but I am also using a stage 3 Spec clutch so it is a very hard pedal

Looked at it still freshly sitting on the new frame but wasn't able to do any work on it Instead pulled the engine off my riding mower, disassembled, replaced the base gasket, reassembled, then mowed the lawn. LOL
