I went to pick up some welding magnets to help out my son on a project so I had to take my GP for a spin, Glen Frey isn't with us any longer but he sure sounded great on his solo album that I have on a stick. I saw Glen Frey in concert when I lived in Florida and those songs sure brought back some happy memories. When I'm driving the GP I liked it that it is a 40 minute drive to my son's place......my mistake, it's 40 minutes by Jeep, 30 minutes with the GP...:)

Per you guys recommendations...I pulled my plugs...and gosh darn it that was a task. Those freaking headers made everything tough. I've never done it before so I actually enjoyed figuring it out. I have the new plugs but I forgot that I needed to gap them and of course I didn't have the tool. I changed the oil as well and there was barely any oil in there when I unscrewed the filter...yikes.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to get the new plugs in tomorrow. Will I be ok without a torque wrench?

I usually use a touch of antiseize on the plug threads up near where they start (minimizing chance of any getting int he chamber or on the electrode) and do 1/4 turn past finger tight. If you get them in by hand you can feel plenty well where they stop. 1/4 turn past that, check after a warm up and cool down cycle. As for the oil filter thing, could not have an anti drainback valve, letting oil drain back to the pan... just a guess. Put in the reccomended amount (5 quarts with filter change with stock type pans), and keep an eye on it. I check the oil when it's overnight cold so all the oil has drained down so I know how much is in the pan.

Put on some cheap plastic flares for now. Eventually I want to build some out of metal. The fenders have been cut for a while since I’m running a 315 square setup on 17”x11” wheels and 3.7” backspace. Next summer is going to be paint

Fixed my linkage problem. Took the linkage apart to clean the rust, grease, and undercoating off, then the column to shift lever rod (long one) decided it wanted to bind on the tab of the other lever. Put it in a vise and bent the skinny section of it away from the lever, goes into all gears like butter. idk why it suddenly started binding, but i dont really care. Also because I'm impatient and a tip from flemming, I drilled out the threads of one of my steel wheel lugnuts, wire wheeled the rust off, and it fits like a glove until my actual bushings arrive from Dixie. Also stopped being lazy and installed my regulator. No, it's not touching the intake. It's about 1" from it. Set it at 4.5psi. car runs better, feels like it pulls harder too. Also got the procedure down to get the 1-2 chirp. From a stop, 1/4 throttle, mash it halfway through 1st, some tire spin, catches, then the chirp. Makes me giggle. Stock 350 with a cam aint no slouch either.

Installed a new kickdown cable. While I was in there removed dipstick tube to install a new o ring, which i couldn't find, so now it's sealed with RTV. Also wire wheeled and painted it.

Fun Fact: bench wire wheel is my favorite tool I have.
